What PDF Help provides

Focused PDF tools

Merge, split, compress, convert, organize, protect, redact, repair and extract information without installing desktop software. Each tool uses the same clear upload, process and download flow.

Problem-solving guides

Guides explain why a PDF fails before recommending a change. They include reversible checks, safety limits, step-by-step fixes, verification checklists and links to a tool only when it is relevant.

How temporary processing works

  1. Upload. The selected file is transferred over an encrypted HTTPS connection to the processing API.
  2. Process. The requested conversion or document operation runs in a temporary job with validation and size limits.
  3. Download. The result is available through a short-lived job link that is excluded from search indexing.
  4. Expire. Uploaded and generated files are deleted automatically after the short job window.

PDF Help does not ask users to email files for processing. Confidential documents should be handled only when online processing is appropriate for the user's organization and legal obligations.

Design principles

  • Clear scope: each page states what the workflow does and where its limits are.
  • Safe defaults: original files should remain unchanged, and irreversible operations require deliberate choices.
  • Accessible interfaces: upload controls, navigation, language switching and guidance are tested on desktop and mobile.
  • Honest security language: password permissions are not described as unbreakable DRM, and visible overlays are not presented as secure redaction.
  • Language parity: important functionality and safety information is maintained in English and German.

Editorial responsibility

Technical guides follow a documented research, testing, translation and correction workflow. Search-demand research helps identify questions, while official documentation and reproducible behavior determine the answer.
